Mario and a Mushroom

Pinterest is the worst place for a tired and creative mind to visit. I can easily spend hours hopping from one pinboard to the next, oohing and ahhing over glowing jars or chevron t-shirt mods. Recently I started looking for jewellery tutorials. Somehow I ended up looking at beading tutorials instead, and came across this wonderful picture of an instrument by BeadTurtle. I followed the link assuming that it would take me to her site, but instead I ended up on some sort of Russian website that was absolutely chockablock full of images and patterns that really should not have been there. There were watermarked photos and scans of books, right along with hand scribbled designs and patterns that looked like they’d been jotted down over a coffee.
Curiosity got the better of me and I started flicking through the pages, looking for any patterns by people I recognised. I know there is very little point, I know that there isn’t much to be done, but I thought it would be interesting regardless. Sites like this tend to pull from every source imaginable and perhaps it would allow me to find some new creative folk. I’m a big fan of Russian style beadweaving and some of the hand-drawn patterns were very interesting indeed. After a few hours of following links to every corner of the web and searching out watermarked images to find where they came from, I ended up stumbling across something perfectly geekalicious.

I haven’t been able to find where this has come from. Actually, scratch that, I did find the video game still that the pattern has been taken from, but I suppose that is the way of fan art. If anyone knows the person who has created this delightful pattern, please let me know.

I always forget about herringbone. I love and adore it.
